⁣Agroecology and Farmer Field Schools – a solution for Zero Hunger and Ecosystems Restoration

Sustainable food and agriculture are at the heart of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. One of the ways of achieving Better Production, Better Nutrition, Better Environment, and Better Life, leaving no one behind, is through agroecology. Agroecology helps ensure food and nutritional security, reduce poverty, mitigate climate change and restore ecosystems by promoting farming practices that increase crop resilience and biodiversity, sequestering carbon in soils and improving local livelihoods. FAO and its partners support global efforts to provide inclusive training though Farmer Field Schools and promote responsible governance for policy development on agroecology. Agroecology has the potential to accelerate the transition to sustainable food systems and contribute to ecosystems restoration.
