Creating opportunities for forestry investment in Uganda

The video highlights the importance of partnerships with the private sector, to
promote sustainable commercial forestry in Uganda. It documents two successful
workshops involving the finance sector and small and medium scale tree growers
in Uganda, held in December 2019. The workshops aimed at creating awareness
among the financial community about the existing forest plantation resource,
fostering partnership between tree growers and financial institutions, as well
as empowering tree growers with skills to develop bankable projects to attract
finance. This work is a result of an excellent collaboration between FAO’s
Partnerships Division, FAO Forestry Department and FAO Uganda. In Uganda, FAO
is facilitating discussions between tree farmers and financial sector players,
to promote sustainable investment in the forestry value chain.
