Forests for a sustainable future: educating children — testing lessons in Tanzania

Children in primary school today will play a significant role in bringing about the changes needed to ensure a sustainable future for forests. “Forests for a sustainable future: educating children” is a project launched by FAO in 2019 to educate children aged 9 to 12 in the United Republic of Tanzania and the Philippines about the importance of managing forests sustainably. Through interactive hands-on forest-based learning modules developed in collaboration with national partners, the project aims to build the skills of the adults of tomorrow to make decisions in favour of the sustainable use and management of forests, and to increase children’s interest in forestry as a possible career. This video shows testing of lessons and activities in Tanzanian schools, and includes group work, game-based learning and role play.
